Our History
Responding to the need of Afghanistan as a country which its main economic, social, human, and physical resources tremendously suffered by negative effects of long period war, knowing that Afghan professional human recourses and National/International organizations are responsible to have active participation in the basic development and rehabilitation of main infrastructures of the country, Welfare Organization for Poverty reduction and Advocacy (WOPRA) has been established in 21/01/2021 by a group of Afghan doctors, engineers, lowers, trainers and other active educated people to have more assistance to valuable people and implement the community development programs in the urban and rural areas Afghanistan.
WOPRA is a Non-Governmental, nonprofit and nonpolitical national organization that is specially set to undertake community development, human rights and infrastructure rehabilitation programs in Afghanistan, by planning and implementing of women empowerment, conflict resolution, advocacy, sustainable livelihoods, education, capacity building, awareness complains, WASH program, water and sanitation management, Networking, and other Community development programs according to the need of communities.
The current focus area of our programs are mostly concentrated in Herat, Ghoor, Badghis, Farah and Nimroz Provinces of Afghanistan.
The aim of organization is to contribute in the improvement process of Afghanistan’s infrastructural base and eradication of poverty by contribution in providing job opportunity for Afghan people within the country.
The founders of WOPRA were involved in assisting of vulnerable people and delivery of community development activities with other national and international organizations for long time before establishment of WOPRA, after establishment of WOPRA we also were involved in implementing capacity building, advocacy and community development programs of several organizations such as Asem Foundation, Razi Social Development Organization (RSDO), and Turkmen’s Islamic Solidarity Connell of West Zone of Afghanistan and private sectors which are interesting to take part in helping people at need.
